After checking out the
premiere of BUBBA HO-TEP at the seemingly
incongruous Walters Art Museum we walked
a few blocks to grab a bite and a drink
at Donna's.
Nice thing about a place
like this is that there's something for
everybody. I wanted a beer and a sandwich
(naturally) while others were happy with
a pot of green tea, a plate of roasted
potatoes, a bowl of penne pasta, or just
a big ol' cup of Chai.
The pasta didn't win rave
reviews (something about squash having
no place in the dish), my Rolling Rock
wasn't ice cold, they completely forgot
Chris's soup, and the roasted potatoes
that accompanied my sandwich were lukewarm
and shriveled.
The Roasted Turkey Sandwich,
however, featured just enough balsamic
vinegar to give it extra flavor and the
roasted vegetables meshed well with the
fresh-baked white bread.
If you're willing to overlook
a few shortcomings, Donna's is a relaxing
place for a bite.
