Hwy 12, Frisco,

After a long drive we decided
to stop at Bubba's in Frisco on the Outer
Banks for some BBQ and Southern hospitality
before hitting the beach.
Bubba's was known for offering
up a full menu of hickory-smoked chicken,
ribs and assorted sandwiches. After a
day on the road, the "hospitality"
we were looking forward to was sorely
lacking, both the order-taker guy and
pick-up window gal were gruff, but hardly
lovable. (They did have ice cold Yuengling
Lager, so I was in
a forgiving mood.)
The food had to save the
day, right? Wrong. Our sandwiches were
bland and uninteresting, the ribs overcooked
and dry. For all its reputation and bluster,
Bubba's was an utter disappointment and
an example of a place coasting on its
name and rep.
