Fast Food ReviewsThe Chicken Club Burrito @ Taco Bell (sampled at Baum Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA)

Available for a limited time only (aren't they all?), this promotion pushes the TB envelope even further. What's next? The Taco Bell Western Omelette? The Taco Bell Gyro?

I was admittedly dubious about this item -- and frankly the entire 'Bacon Menu' -- but my post-Penguins-game tummy was needin' some grub. Granted, not much else was open after a 7-2 drubbing of the lowly Ottawa Senators, and Ritter's Diner was having a bit of a pr problem. A drive-by shooting and an in-diner robbery (ala Pulp Fiction) do little to help that late night business.

I valiantly switched from my usual order (Mexican Pizza, 2 Hard Shell Light Taco Supremes -- I am watching my weight, you know) and took the Chicken Club Burrito plunge. Kaki was bold and brave enough to embrace the Bacon Cheeseburger Burrito with open hands and awaiting stomach.

End result? Well, the burrito was filling, but I can also chalk that up to that always-reliable stalwart, Nachos Bell Grande. The burrito itself? The shell was stale and hard, especially during those crucial final few chomps. More importantly, the bacon flavor was a bit harsh, making for a bitter-tasting concoction not unlike licking the business end of a battery throughout your meal. An unsatisfying overall experience.
